There are big stars in the nonprofit world who lead the way when it comes to storytelling (charity: water and Mercy Corps top my list), but LIVESTRONG has me buzzing today with this eye-catching custom Facebook landing page that gently coaxes cancer survivors to share a positive personal anecdote about their experience.
I like the page for it’s clever simplicity. LIVESTRONG doesn’t overreach by loading their landing page with flashy features and videos of cancer survivors, although I imagine they might easily whip those up. Instead, they simply ask visitors to share a story “about achieving your healthiest life” on LIVESTRONG’s Facebook wall. They set the “Share Your Story” page as their default landing tab ( Edit Page>Manage Permissions>Default Landing Tab) so any new visitor to their fan page sees it first.
Then… they get out of the way.
LIVESTRONG’s Facebook wall has become an online community for cancer survivors to share their candid experiences, not another tired Fan page where organizations beg for donations or volunteers in a one-way monologue. Cheers to you, LIVESTRONG.
